Boat moorings, Rock

Moor your own boat at Rock in the Camel estuary.

Rock

Moorings in Rock are available to rent on a weekly/daily basis from Padstow Harbour Commissioners. They are for small sailing boats, RIB’s,  and powerboats. The best boat moorings, that can be reached at the most tide times, get snapped up quickly so book well in advance. If you have a sailing dinghy you can use the Rock dinghy park to store your boat.

Rock dinghy park charges

You can store and launch your sailing dinghy or small tender size boat at the dinghy park at Rock.

Rock

The dinghy park in Rock is right by the Rock car park, adjacent to the Camel estuary. There are a couple of slipways and space to store hundreds of boats. It gets busy through the season but there has always been space for us when we arrive on holiday. You can book and pay at the Harbourmasters hut in the dinghy park.

Rock Marine Services, boatyard and chandlery

Rock marine is the place for anything to do powerboats, outboards and waterskiing.

Rock

The team of friendly and talented staff at Rock Marine can service and repair your outboard, fix and maintain your boat, sell you new or used powerboats and outboards and supply chandlery, safety kit and waterskiing gear. They also offer a boat storage service and will launch, moor and recover your boat at the beginning and end of your holiday. I believe Rock Marine store and look after around 300 powerboats. I’ve bought outboards from them, had them serviced and we store our own RIB with them, great service.

Wild swimming at Rock

Finding a safe place to swim at Rock is easy. There are miles of sandy beaches in the Camel estuary.

Rock

As long as you stay close to the shore in Rock there’s miles of opportunity to swim safely. It’s relatively calm but the currents can get strong at certain tides and there are many boats in the main channel so care should be taken to stay relatively close to the shore. If you have your own boat then jumping overboard for a dip, like the two in this picture, is great, especially near the cliffs towards the end of the estuary on the left.
